Character Analysis
Character Analysis.
This character is a very well-known character, not just in the
horror genre but across the film industry. The role that he plays in this film
is a very significant role. The director
is trying to signify to the audience that this character cannot help his
actions due to his mental condition. The reason why he is wearing a mask is to
hide his identity, which means that he is insecure with who he is. He has his reason why he kills people and
this is linked very closely with the background that he has had and we learn
this through the intro of the film. He is
very clever with how he goes about his killings because he waits until someone
is on their own and then takes them without many people finding out until he
has fled the area. The weapon that he uses is a phallic symbol because of the
shape and the resemblance to the phallic symbol. Even though he is wearing a
mask this a very good way to identify that the killer is a male. A male was
most likely chosen to be the killer because they are predominately the stronger
sex. If you were to watch the film and
closely look at this character, before you saw him with a mask and a weapon in
his hand then you would instantly see the traits of killer. The lighting behind him makes him look much
bigger than what he is because this really highlights how big he is compared to
his surroundings.
